Many once safe, high trust, family friendly cities have become wastelands of gang violence, drug use, homelessness, overstretched police forces, and overall economic pits. 14 There has been countless attempts to explain away the disparities in black crime over the years. In all cases, blacks are absolved of any responsibility for these trends. Most American’s have no idea that lynchings were carried out against White American’s as well, and quite frequently. It didn’t occur as often as it did to blacks, but given the disparity we see today, it’s unrealistic to claim that none of that disparity is due to higher crime rates.

If the historical legacy of slavery was so impactful and crippling you would expect to see America to be unique in its disrape, murder, and violence committed by blacks but that isn’t the case. The same occurs when blacks are a significant population everywhere in the world.

134 The impact of slavery also holds little connection to the modern day. Blacks aren’t suffering from crippling social exclusion or shame about their past.
